Shaun Kessler was born in Miami, FL in 1980 and now lives and works in Rockaway Beach (Queens, NY). He attended Clark University (Worcester, MA) and graduated in 2003 with a BA in Studio Art, with Highest Honors. He received an MS in Communication Design from Pratt Institute (NY) in 2006.
His work is at once cluttered and intricate, familiar and extraordinary. In a playful but deliberate manner, reminiscent of both Dadism and Futurism. Kessler works with found catalogue images, household objects, and naturally occuring items like crystals and plants. By manipulating these nostalgia-inducing items, he produces cryptic and visionary glimpses.
