New York Times weekend magazine introduces him as the "publishing phenomenon” behind the magazines Fanzine137 and Electric Youth and the latest Candy, introduced in November 2009 as the first fashion magazine ever completely dedicated to transvestism, transexuality, cross dressing and androgyny.
Venegas was born in 1979, in Vitoria, Spain, soon moving with his family to Barcelona were he graduates in fashion design. Works with Thierry Mugler, Sybilla, Loewe and Carolina Herrera. Growing closer and closer to art, photography and writing, collaborates in various ways with Acne Paper, Butt, Dazed & Confused and El País, and assumes art direction of the Spanish edition of Marie Claire (2002).
In 2004 Luis Venegas introduces Fanzine137 - a short run, hard to find, indie publication - which proved his editorial skills, populating it in breath taking pace with a courtship of famous artists, unrevealed names, mythical 20th century oeuvres alongside with forgotten ones. A cult object.
Teaches Contemporary Culture in Madrid since 2005.
